Death toll in Lower Dir funeral clash rises to nine

The rivals opened fire on each other during the funeral in the Tormang area of Lower Dir, resulting in the deaths of eight people and injuries to 12 others. Son of former Khyber Pakhtunkhwa minister Malik Jehanzeb, Fahad, was among the dead.
More ambulances with medical teams had been rushed to the area after the control room received the call from locals.
The deaths soared to nine as another injured of the clash breathed his last on Friday. Nine of the injured were shifted to Peshawar’s Lady Reading Hospital and the others to a hospital in Timergara.
Director-General Rescue 1122 has directed arranging ambulances to shift the injured to other hospitals.
The reason for the clash was said to be a land dispute. The members of both the groups allegedly opened fire on each other when they came face-to-face during the funeral. Heavy contingents of police were deployed in the area.
