Lula slams ‘threatening’ presidential rhetoric at global forum

Brazilian President Lula da Silva criticised what he described as provocative rhetoric by world leaders, saying the international community cannot afford to live under constant threats of conflict, 24NewsHD TV reported on Saturday. 

“We cannot wake up every morning and go to bed every night reading statements from a president threatening the world and announcing wars,” Lula said while addressing a gathering of progressive leaders in Barcelona.

Without naming any specific leader, Lula warned that such language undermined global stability and increased the risk of conflict escalation.

He also called on the five permanent members of the United Nations Security Council to reassess their approach, particularly over their failure to stop the ongoing tensions involving Iran.

Lula said meaningful change in the council’s conduct was necessary to ensure effective conflict resolution and maintain international peace.
