9th Muharram processions highlight Imam Hussain’s supreme sacrifice

Authorities ban pillion riding, jam mobile phone signals on procession routes

Ninth Muharram processions are underway across the country including the main processions in all the provincial capitals on Wednesday amid tight security to highlight the supreme sacrifice rendered by Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) and his devoted companions in Karbala.

The authorities in order to avoid any incident have placed a ban on pillion riding and have also jammed the mobile phone signals in sensitive areas, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

Youm-e-Ashur, the tenth of Muharram, will be observed tomorrow as the mourning processions will be taken out in all the cities and towns of the country. Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) have also been issued for the mourning processions to avoid spread of Covid-19.

Ulema and Zakireen will highlight the bright and candid teachings of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) and various aspects of Karbala tragedy.

In connection with the 9th Muharram , Taazia and Zuljinah processions were taken out in different parts of the country in memory of martyrs of Karbala.

In Lahore, Nicholson Road, Imambargah Atiya Ahl-e-Bayt's procession resembles Zul-Jinnah.

In Karachi, a procession was taken out from Martin Quarters Imambargah Shah Najaf that will go through traditional routes and culminate at Nishtar Park.

In Larkana, a 150-year-old historical mourning procession was taken out from Dokri Tehsil.

The Islamabad Capita Territory Traffic Police have also issued a traffic plan on the ninth Muharram due to processions and majalis.

The main procession of 9th Muharram in Hyderabad was taken out from Latifabad Punay Panch number under the auspicious of Anjuman Guldasta Akbar and will conclude at the point of starting in the evening.

In Multan, 9th Muharram the main procession left Imambargah Mumtazabad at 12 noon from Jinnah Street Tughlaq Road at 9 am.

In Chunian, the main procession of the ninth Muharram was taken out from the Fort Rupa Singh and after passing through the designated routes, the procession will conclude at its destination. The procession will start from Post Office Bazaar and end at 1 O'clock at Imambargah Hussainiya.

In Multan, mourning procession was taken out from Suraj Miani Chah Mamolewala at 10 am while another procession started from Darbar Sakhi Sultan Suraj Miani at 8 pm and another leave from Basti Kotwal at 8 pm.

In Peshawar, around 18 small and large processions will be taken out from different Imambargahs on ninth Muharram procession. The second main procession will leave Imambargah Bibi Sahiba Tehsil at 3 pm in Peshawar.

The main procession of 9th Muharram in Shenbagh was taken out from the Dera of Syed Iqbal Shah in Attock. The procession will end at Imambargah Hussainiya Shenbagh at 12.

The mourning procession of 9th Muharram was taken out from 67/EB Arifwala. The procession routes were completely sealed with barbed wires and all the incoming mourners were only allowed to enter after strict checking.

In Bahawalpur, the main procession of Muharram left from Shahdara Chowk and after pass through Model Town B nearing Anti-Terrorism Court the mourning march will conclude at Central Shia mosque.

In Liaquatpur, the Allahabad Central mourning procession left at 8pm and will conclude after 2 pm. District authorities have made strict arrangements of security.

Two mourning processions will be taken out in Kandhkot in the evening.

In Sadiqabad, the ninth Muharram-ul-Haram procession ‘Ghazi Alam Abbas’ will leave Haider Colony at 2 pm and end at 7 pm at the Central Imambargah Qasr Panjtan Pak, Sadiqabad.

The procession routes are being cleaned while mobile phone services have been suspended in and around the city.

A number of Sabils have been arranged for the mourners of the procession. A mourning ceremony will also be held at Imambargah Sadiqabad.
