PML-N nominates Rana Sanaullah for Punjab’s general seat in senate

The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) has issued a senate ticket to senior party leader and former interior minister Rana Sanaullah Khan for a general seat from Punjab, 24NewsHD TV reported on Monday. 

The decision comes as the party prepares for the upcoming by-election scheduled for September 9.

The Senate seat fell vacant following the disqualification of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Ejaz Chaudhry.

The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has already scheduled the by-election for September 9 to fill the vacancy.

Rana Sanaullah, a veteran politician and close confidant of PML-N supremo Nawaz Sharif, has previously served in key political and administrative roles, including as Punjab’s law minister and the federal interior minister during the PDM coalition government.

His nomination for the Senate is being viewed as part of the party’s strategy to strengthen its representation in the upper house of Parliament.
