Rishabh Pant becomes first Indian to hit 100 Test sixes

India wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant has created history by becoming the first Indian and only the fourth batter in Test cricket to hit 100 sixes, 24NewsHD TV reported on Tuesday.

Pant reached the milestone during his aggressive 66-run innings against Sri Lanka in the Galle Test.

The left-hander completed his 100 Test sixes in just 89 innings, making him the fastest batter to reach the landmark in terms of innings.

He surpassed England’s Ben Stokes, who reached 100 sixes in 130 innings.

Pant also set a record for reaching 100 Test sixes in the fewest balls.

He achieved the feat after facing just 4,918 deliveries, while former Australia wicketkeeper Adam Gilchrist took 6,578 balls to hit his first 100 Test sixes.

In the all-time list of most Test sixes, Stokes leads with 138, followed by former New Zealand captain Brendon McCullum with 107.
