Polio cop martyred in DI Khan bomb attack

A policeman was martyred and two others injured when an improvised explosive device went off near a police mobile van deployed for the security of polio workers in Dera Ismail Khan on Tuesday.
The incident took place in Kulachi area of Dera Ismail Khan city where polio workers were canvassing the area, District Police Officer Wahid Mahmood told newsmen.
The two injured were shifted to District Headquarters Hospital where their condition is said to be stable, the DPO said.
The area has been cordoned off while a search operation is underway, he added. However, no group has so far claimed responsibility for the bomb attack.
On Saturday, National Institute of Health confirmed five more polio cases from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan, bringing the tally for the current year so far to 17.
