Abhishek Sharma registers third consecutive duck in T20 World Cup

India’s aggressive opener Abhishek Sharma secured a third successive duck and failed to score a single run in the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2026 tournament so far, 24NewsHD TV reported on Wednesday.

In India’s final group-stage fixture in Ahmedabad, Abhishek was dismissed for zero against the Netherlands national cricket team.

He was bowled in the very first over by Netherlands pacer Dutt.

 This marked Abhishek’s third consecutive duck in the 2026 edition of the T20 World Cup.

Earlier, he had also been dismissed without scoring against the United States and arch-rivals Pakistan.

With three successive ducks, Abhishek has now equalled an unwanted Indian record for the most consecutive dismissals without scoring in T20 World Cup history — a record previously held by former India pacer Ashish Nehra, who was dismissed for zero in three straight innings in a past edition of the tournament.

The 23-year-old opener has also matched another undesirable milestone in T20 Internationals.

In the 2026 calendar year, he has been dismissed for a duck five times, equalling the Indian record jointly held by Sanju Samson, who registered five ducks in 2024.
