PPP candidate Ameer Ali Shah wins PS-52 by-election

Pakistan People’s Party candidate Ameer Ali Shah won the by-election in PS-52 Umarkot on Monday.

According to unofficial results, PPP candidate Ameer Ali Shah won the election after getting 55,904 votes. Grand Democratic Alliance candidate Arbab Ghulam Rahim managed to get 30,921 votes. 

Celebrating the victory, PPP workers gathered outside the residence of Ameer Ali Shah and dancing to the tune of drumbeats. 

The Sindh Assembly seat fell vacant after the death of PPP leader Syed Ali Mardan Shah on January 19, 2019. The Election Commission of Pakistan had announced a by-poll schedule but it had to be postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic in the country.
