Poor be exempted from paying gas, power bills: Siraj

Jamaat-i-Islami Amir Sirajul Haq on Wednesday demanded that poor people should be exempted from paying electricity and gas bills due to the economic slowdown in the country because of pandemic coronavirus.

He was addressing a press conference at Mansoora on Wednesday. He said people with

earnings below Rs25,000 should be spared the harsh impact of the coronavirus spread.

The JI chief said that most affected section of the society was the daily wagers and the government must provide relief to them.

JI welcomed Prime Minister Imran Khan’s suggestion seeking debt relief from the international powers due to economic slowdown, Siraj said.

Sirajul Haq demanded the PTI government to forgo the interest rate based economy. He said that JI workers have been using all recourses to help the common citizens of the country and set up dispensaries and ambulances.

He asked the government to curb the hoarders that are profiteering in the time of pandemic COIVID-19.
