12,990 vehicles challaned for violating ‘austerity speed limit’ on Motorways

In the ongoing crackdown against traffic law violations, Motorway police challaned more than 12,990 vehicles for speed violations, reported 24NewsHD TV on Wednesday.

According to details, MC-1 Lahore challaned 5,641 vehicles for new speed limit violations imposed after the government introduced austerity measures to save fuel amid worsening Middle East crisis, and MC-2 Zone Multan challaned 3,752 vehicles.

The Central Zone Lahore issued challans to 3,597 vehicles over traffic law violations. Motorway Police Central Region started enforcement of traffic laws on main highways and roads.

The Motorway Police Central Zone is taking these measures to limit the use of fuel and ensure the security of the drivers and passengers.

It is necessary to mention here that the Motorway Police adopted a zero-tolerance policy against traffic law violations. Anyone who is found in violation of traffic laws will be dealt with as per the law.

The Motorway police earlier directed the drivers to limit their speed to 100km per hour in order to save fuel.
