App prepared to ensure complete ban on tree cutting in Punjab

As complete ban on cutting of trees in Lahore and other cities of Punjab remains in place, an application has been prepared for geotagging and monitoring, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

Punjab Minister for Housing Bilal Yasin said on Wednesday that the protection of vegetation would be the topmost priority while designing a development project. “And in case there is no other option but to cut trees, it will be mandatory to seek an approval from the PHA,” he added while chairing the first board meeting of the Punjab Horticulture Authority.

MDs of 21 agencies attended the meeting via a video link.

The minister was briefed that in case one tree was cut, 20 saplings would be planted in its place instead, and there would be a complete monitoring of these plants for a period of three years.

The minister directed that SOPs should be implemented during work on development projects.
