Morocco declared winner of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has declared Morocco the winner of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations after Senegal forfeited the final by walking off the pitch during the controversial match in January 2026, 24NewsHD TV reported on Wednesday.

Senegal had initially defeated Morocco on the field, but the team left the pitch in protest against the referee’s decisions, causing a 14-minute stoppage.

Morocco subsequently lodged an appeal with CAF, challenging the outcome.

CAF’s appeal board upheld Morocco’s claim, citing Articles 82 and 84 of the tournament regulations.

The board ruled that Senegal’s decision to leave the field constituted a forfeit under Article 84, which applies when a team abandons the match in violation of the rules.

“As per Article 84, Senegal forfeited the match, and Morocco is declared the winner with a 3-0 scoreline,” CAF said in a statement.
