Nora Fatehi-Sanjay Dutt song faces govt heat over ‘vulgar’ content

The song ‘Sarke Chunar Teri Sarke’ from KD: The Devil, featuring Nora Fatehi and Sanjay Dutt, has landed in controversy after drawing criticism for alleged vulgar and suggestive content, prompting government intervention and a review by the film certification board.

According to reports, India’s Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has directed the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) to review the song and take appropriate action. If the allegations are found to be valid, the board may recommend its removal from media and digital platforms.

The track, featuring Nora Fatehi and Sanjay Dutt, has drawn criticism from multiple quarters. Critics argue that its lyrics, visuals, and choreography promote vulgarity and objectify women, raising concerns about its potential impact on younger audiences.

Officials have also indicated that monitoring mechanisms for objectionable content in films and music videos could be strengthened. If required, amendments to existing film certification rules may be considered to curb the circulation of content deemed indecent or harmful to public morality.

The issue gained further momentum after the All Indian Cine Workers Association (AICWA) formally wrote to the CBFC and Information and Broadcasting Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, seeking immediate intervention.

In its letter, the association described the matter as a “serious public concern,” alleging that the song contains double-meaning content and fails to meet standards of decency in Indian cinema. It also flagged what it called an “alarming trend” of creating controversial songs to generate publicity.

AICWA has urged authorities to ban the track, remove it from broadcast and digital platforms, and reconsider the film’s certification. The development has sparked wider debate over censorship, creative freedom, and content regulation in the entertainment industry.
