Veteran screenwriter Salim Khan discharged after month-long hospital stay
Legendary Bollywood screenwriter Salim Khan has been discharged from Lilavati Hospital in Mumbai after a month-long battle with a brain haemorrhage.
The 90-year-old, who was on ventilator support and in intensive care during the initial phase, will now continue recovery under observation at home.
A source told News9 that treatment under Dr. Jalil Parkar was successful. Salim Khan’s children, Salman Khan and Alvira Khan Agnihotri, were present at the time of his discharge.
A film industry insider praised the family, saying: “The gladiator has walked back from the abyss, and full credit to the family, which has handled this with so much dignity and care.”
Salim Khan was admitted on February 17 after being brought in by family doctor Dr. Sandeep Chopra. A team of specialists, including neurologist Dr. Vinay Chavan, cardiologist Dr. Ajit Menon, neurosurgeon Dr. Nitin Dange, and Dr. Bineet Ahluwalia, attended to him.
He was closely supported by friends and family throughout his treatment.
Born in Indore, Salim Khan initially dreamt of acting but found his true calling in writing. Teaming up with Javed Akhtar, he delivered some of Hindi cinema’s most iconic screenplays, including Sholay, Deewar, Don, Zanjeer, Trishul, Seeta Aur Geeta, and Mr. India, leaving an indelible mark on Bollywood.
