Indo-Pak confrontation exposed PM Modi’s poor diplomacy, says BBC

The recent confrontation between India and Pakistan has exposed Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s flawed diplomacy, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Sunday.

According to the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC), the fact that no country supported India during its war against Pakistan was proof that PM Modi’s policy of multi-alliance had failed to deliver goods.    

On the other hand, several countries such as Turkey and China openly supported Pakistan.

China announced that it would protect Pakistan’s sovereignty, while Turkey too threw its weight behind Pakistan, said the BBC, adding on the contrary, India remained isolated.   

It further said that the fact that the USA brokered a ceasefire between the two countries proved that India was not an independent country.

The BBC went on to say that despite efforts made by the Indian government, US President Donald Trump made no mention of terrorism while brokering a truce between the two arch rivals. “This was certainly a shock for India.” 

The news channel opined that the world’s focus was not on addressing the issue of terrorism between India and Pakistan, but on lowering rising temperatures in South Asia.  

The BBC said that the USA treated Pakistan at par with India despite the fact that it had only $10 billion worth of trade with the former, which also stunned India.

Likewise, the world’s attention was again diverted towards the Kashmir issue, which did not go down well with India, which has always declared it as its internal issue, said the BBC, adding that Saudi and Iran’s foreign ministers visited Pakistan one after the other. “And both of them preferred Pakistan to India,” said the news channel.
