KP announces summer vacations for schools in plain areas

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has announced summer vacations for educational institutions in the province’s plains as rising temperatures intensify across the region, 24NewsHD TV reported on Monday.

According to an official notification issued by the education department, schools and colleges in the province's plain districts will remain closed for summer vacation from June 1 to August 31, 2026.

However, officials said the holidays would effectively begin from May 22 because of Eid holidays and the regular Friday, Saturday, and Sunday weekly break.

The education department said the vacation schedule for both plains and colder mountainous regions of the province had already been planned in advance.

According to education authorities, educational institutions located in the coldest hilly areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa will observe summer vacations from July 1 to July 31, 2026.

The announcement comes as several provinces across Pakistan close schools due to extreme weather conditions.

Educational institutions in Punjab, Sindh, and Balochistan have already announced summer holidays earlier this month.
