SAPM Shahbaz Gill guilty of spreading fake news
Special Assistant to Prime Minister (SAPM) Shahbaz Gill, who is often seen bashing media for spreading ‘fake’ news, himself became guilty of spreading one when he told Federal Minister for Information Fawad Chaudhry right in front of media men that he had lied to the opposition on Wednesday (November 17) that Prime Minister Imran Khan would address joint session of the parliament, which, in fact, was not true, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Thursday.
He added that when members of the opposition heard this, they rushed back to the parliament to wait for the prime minister’s speech only to later find out that there was no truth in such news. “So much so that the opposition lawmakers kept sitting until the joint session was prorogued,” the SAPM said as if it was a trivial matter.
It appears that Gill thought that the joint session of the parliament or PM Imran’s speech were ordinary occasions, and that there was nothing wrong with spreading ‘fake’ news about them.
Another strange thing is that the worthy SPAM said it publicly right in front of the media without any fear of being censured for that.
This is not for the first time that Gill has become the subject of criticism.
In the past too, Federal Minister Shibli Faraz had objected to SAPM’s such tactics.
