Army chief will be decided in next four days: Kh Asif

Federal Minister for Defence Khawaja Asif on Friday said the matter of appointment of the army chief will be decided in the next three to four days.
The 24News HD TV Channel made special contact with the Defence Minister over the issue of a summary of the army chief’s appointment on Friday.
Khawaja Asif told the channel that the Ministry of Defence has not yet received any summary from the army so they have not forwarded any summary to the Prime Minister.
Anyhow, he explained that the appointment of the new army chief will be decided in the next three to four days.
Two days ago, the Defence Minister was optimistic about the nomination of the next army chief on November 18 or 19 but now he confirmed that it will take more time.
Appointment of the Chief of the Army Staff:- (1)The President shall, on the advice of the Prime Minister, appoint a General as the Chief of the Army Staff, for a tenure of three (03) years.
Under the Constitution of Pakistan Article 243(3)b the President shall, on advice of the Prime Minister, appoint the Chief of the Army Staff (COAS) and shall also determine their salaries and allowances.
It is worth mentioning that Chief of the Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa is going to be retired on November 29, 2022.
