While hearing a petition of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) against recent amendments to the law of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB), the Supreme Court (SC) Tuesday ordered to secure all the records of the NAB references that had been returned, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

A special three-member bench of the Supreme Court, headed by Chief Justice Umar Ata Bandial, heard the petition.

The Supreme Court remarked that all the records should be digitized. It also sought the details of all the NAB references that had been returned.

PTI’s lawyer Khawaja Harris adopted before the court that major cases including the rental power case had been disposed of.

“With the recent amendments, financial benefits of the third party have been taken out of the reach of the NAB,” he added.

“We are still looking for a criterion to test the NAB law,” the chief justice remarked.

“How can we design a law and send it to the Parliament?” Justice Mansoor Ali Shah questioned.

“Tomorrow, some citizens will come and ask NAB to investigate the corruption of Rs10. This series should stop somewhere. Why and how can we interfere in the affairs of Parliament? How can the Supreme Court determine what should be the NAB law?” he added.

“You argue that the NAB law is based on bad intention. How can we design the law for the Parliament?” Justice Mansoor Ali Shah questioned further.

“In the past, the Supreme Court designed laws for the Parliament,” the PTI lawyer argued.

At this, the Supreme Court ordered to secure all the records of the NAB references that had been returned.

The Supreme Court also ordered to digitisation of all the records and sought the details of the references that had been returned.
