Pakistan’s current account posts $245m deficit in August

The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) Thursday reported a current account deficit of $245 million in August 2025, compared to $82 ‎million in August 2024, reported 24NewsHD TV.‎

According to the report, the deficit was recorded at $379 million in July 202. The State Bank noted ‎that Pakistan’s exports in August 2025 were $2.50 billion, showing a 3 percent annual increase. ‎While imports rose to $4.98 billion, marking a 6 percent rise from last year.‎

During the first two months of the current fiscal year, the current account deficit reached $624 ‎million, compared to $430 million in the same period of the previous fiscal year. Exports increased ‎by 10 percent to $5.28 billion, while the import bill grew by 9 percent to $10.40 billion.‎

The report further stated that remittances in August 2025 rose by 7 percent to $3.14 billion. While ‎overall remittances in the first two months of the current fiscal year also increased by 7 percent, ‎reaching $6.35 billion.‎
