Students being charged with exam fee despite free education claims
Despite tall claims of the Punjab government to provide free education to the children, the education board is charging examination fee from the students on the pretext of different funds, reported 24NewsHD Tv channel on Wednesday.
Shehbaz Sharif government had announced that students will not be burdened with examination fee rather it would be borne the government.
However, the corruption is one of the maladies that cannot be eliminated from this crooked and flawed education system and the corrupt officials have devised different ways to mint money under false pretenses.
Students are being charged a fee of Rs530 annually in the name of processing, although all data entry work is done by government school teachers.
As per sources, Rs200 is charged as scholarship, and sports fee, and Rs200 is also collected as development fee in every examination.
On the other hand, Kashif Shahzad Chaudhry, the president of PACT Punjab, demanded the education boards to pay the data entry fees to the teachers as well.
“Board should pay compensation or enter students’ data themselves,” he said.
