Man climbs crane at Punjab Assembly Hostels, rescued after talks with CM’s aide

An unidentified man climbed a crane at the under-construction Punjab Assembly MPA Hostels on Friday, demanding a meeting with Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, prompting a security and rescue operation at the site.

According to officials, the man, later identified as Waqar and said to be a resident of Okara, climbed the tall crane and initially refused to come down. Assembly staff, security officials and rescue teams rushed to the scene and cordoned off the area as efforts were made to resolve the situation safely.

Rescue personnel facilitated negotiations by arranging a conversation between the man and Adviser to the Chief Minister Zeeshan Malik. After receiving assurances, the man agreed to come down from the crane.

Chief Whip of the Punjab Assembly Rana Muhammad Arshad said the Chief Minister had taken notice of the incident and dispatched her political adviser to the site. He added that the Speaker of the Punjab Assembly had also taken notice of the matter.

Following the successful rescue, Zeeshan Malik assured the man that his legitimate demands would be addressed. He later took Waqar with him to his office for further discussion.
