PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi reviews arrangements for ICC Champions Trophy

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi on Wednesday presided over an important meeting to review the arrangements made for holding the ICC Champions Trophy matches in Pakistan, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Wednesday.

Addressing the meeting, Naqvi said that the holding of the Champions Trophy in a secure environment would improve Pakistan’s image globally.

He said that the country was hosting an ICC tournament after 29 years. 

The PCB chairman directed the concerned officials to provide all possible facilities to the participating teams as per international standards.

IG bans entry of policemen in stadium

Earlier, Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Ghulam Nabi Memon said that the entry of policemen, who would not be on-duty and who would be without tickets, in the National Stadium would be banned.

In a message released from the Police Control Room, the IGP said strict action would be taken against those policeman and officials who will violate the directives. 

As the ICC Champions Trophy, 2025 officially begins today, Karachi’s National Bank Stadium is set to host the opening clash between Pakistan and New Zealand.

With thousands of cricket fans expected to attend, authorities have devised a comprehensive traffic and security plan to ensure smooth proceedings.

The areas, designated for car parking are China Ground, the National Coaching Centre, and the Expo Centre. 

Meanwhile, spectators with special passes will be able to park their vehicles in the stadium’s parking area. 

Despite a huge crowd is expected to turn up today, all roads leading to the stadium will remain open to traffic.

However, commuters using Sir Shah Suleman Road are advised to take alternate routes during match hours to avoid congestion.

For vehicles entry, only VIP and sticker/pass-holding vehicles will be granted access through Gate No. 8. General spectators can enter the stadium through the main entrance and Gates 04, 05, 06, 12, 13, and 14.

Security protocols will be strictly enforced, with all attendees required to undergo thorough checks at entrance gates. To facilitate smooth entry, fans are advised to arrive well in advance, as all stadium gates will open three hours before the match begins.

To enter the venue, spectators must carry their original CNIC. Additionally, only physical match tickets (hard copies) will be accepted at the gates, as online or digital tickets will not be valid for entry.

In a move to enhance security, authorities have also imposed a strict ban on drone cameras within and around the stadium premises.
