FDI in Pakistan drops by 51 per cent in first seven months of present FY 

Around 51 per cent reduction was recorded in the Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) in the country during the first seven months of the ongoing financial year (FY), 2025-26, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Thursday.

According to the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP), the FDI during the above-mentioned period remained even less than $700 million.

It was close to $1.43 billion during the first seven months of the last FY.

The bank has further said that from July 2025 to January 2026, the FDI remained $73 million, while during the same period last FY, it was recorded at over $1.42 billion.

The FDI in January 2026 stood at $111 million, while it was recorded at $28 million in January 2025.

Portfolio investment also witnessed a downward trend.

The bank has informed that during the first seven months of the present fiscal year, portfolio investment came down by $35 million.

Experts have said that foreign investors are cautious due to an uncertain situation in the world and that long-term investment-friendly policies are required to attract foreign investment.
