The members of the Parliamentary Committee of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf to select caretaker Punjab chief minister Thursday held a special meeting with party chairman Imran Khan, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
Central Senior Vice President Chaudhry Fawad Hussain was also present at the meeting.
The meeting deliberated in detail the issue of nomination of a Caretaker Chief Minister in Punjab.
The meeting held a detailed discussion on the names of Ahmed Nawaz Sukhaira, former Punjab Chief Secretary Naveed Cheema and Naseer Khan for the post of caretaker chief minister.
The meeting agreed to send two names to the parliamentary committee meeting after the final consultation with the PTI Chairman.
Imran Khan said the country cannot afford any delay in elections and jeopardizing the transparency of elections is tantamount to enmity with the nation when the country is already in a very sensitive situation.
Khan said conducting clean and transparent elections is the most serious matter and only a caretaker government with the best reputation and capacity is suitable for this responsibility.
He said PTI was nominating personalities with the best reputation and ability.
Khan said it would be pure folly to allow a group afraid to face the public to do more wrongs.
“The constitutional requirement of establishing caretaker governments should be seriously fulfilled and the people should be given the right to make decisions through elections without delay,” Imran Khan said.
