PML-N, PPP take PTI to task over ‘aliens’ in cabinet

Main Opposition parties – Pakistan Muslims League-Nawaz (PML-N) and Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) – have reminded Prime Minster Imran Khan of his previous stance about public office holders having dual nationality, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

It was revealed on Saturday that six of the 15 special assistants and advisers to the prime minister have dual nationality. On the other hand, Federal Information Minister Shibli Faraz said the government has placed the assets of all SAPMs, advisers on the website of Cabinet Division as instructed by Prime Minister Imran Khan.

PML-N Spokesperson Maryam Aurangzeb challenged Prime Minister Imran Khan to remove advisers and ministers with foreign citizenship. She said, “Imran Sahib you said it is not possible that you have dual citizenship and you can decide the future of the country.”

“Imran Sahib said if you have a passport from another country you should not sit in parliament."

She questioned why is Imran now allowing dual citizens to decide the fate of 220 million people. “Why has Imran Khan put foreign passport holders in the cabinet today? Why Prime Minister is allowing people who have nothing in Pakistan make decisions in his cabinet today?

“The people are suffering from unemployment, economic catastrophe and hunger due to the imposition of foreign gangs on the country,” the PML-N spokesperson commented.

PPP senior leader Sherry Rehman said, “Six aides to the prime minister allegedly hold dual nationality. Please, clarify who is a dual national and who is not, because PM IK (Imran Khan) has repeatedly said he stands against govt aides, advisers, ministers who swear an oath of allegiance to another country. What happened to #MadeinPakistan?”

The PPP leader said four now narrowed down in media and questioned: “If members of parliament can’t be dual nationals how can advisers and aides who sit in the cabinet?”

People having dual nationality were made part of the cabinet with Prime Minister’s knowledge? If the Prime Minister did not know, then it is a matter of further concern too. She questioned are people with dual citizenship building a new Pakistan?

She said that Prime Minister Imran Khan had to import foreign characters to build the New Pakistan because there was a scarcity of capable people in Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf. “This has been proved that the incumbent government has no vision and policy at all,” she added.
