Cleric tortures 8-year child in Dadu

A cleric brutally tortured an eight-year child with a stick at the entrance of a madrassa in Dadu, Sindh, 24News HD TV channel reported on Monday.

According to details, the cleric of the local seminary got angry at a boy’s entry and started beating him up with a stick.

The boy reached home with heavy beaten-up marks on the back. His father immediately rushed to East Police Station and filed a complaint against the cleric.

The police taking immediate action on the complaint started raids to arrest the culprit cleric who fled from the scene after beating up the boy.

According to some data collected by a civil society organization-Sahil in 2020 independently, in a day more than 8 children have been abused and children of age 6 to 15 years were most vulnerable to abuse.

The Cruel Numbers data of the year 2020 reveals that acquaintances are on top of the list involved in 1780 cases of child abuse, 109 cases were service providers like—maulvi, teacher, shopkeeper, driver, doctor, and police. A total of 91 cases were family members and relatives and in 92 cases neighbors were involved. In 468 cases, strangers were involved in abusing children.

The report found that in the geographical areas, 58 percent of cases were reported from Punjab province, 29 percent cases took place from Sindh, 7 percent cases from the KP, 3 percent cases from Islamabad, whereas 53 cases were reported from Balochistan, 18 cases from Azad Jammu & Kashmir (AJK), and 4 cases were reported from Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) as well.
