Indian External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar admitted India plotted against Pakistan's efforts to get its name removed from the grey list of the Financial Action Task Force (FATF).

“The Narendra Modi government ensured that Pakistan remained on the grey list of FATF, the Indian minister said while addressing a virtual training programme on the foreign policy for Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders.

The session was reportedly aimed at informing BJP’s members of Parliament about foreign policy initiatives taken by the Union government so that they can counter opposition charges during the Monsoon session.

Indian media quoted the external affairs minister as saying: “Due to us, Pakistan is under the lens of FATF and it was kept in the grey list. We have been successful in pressurising Pakistan and the fact that Pakistan's behaviour has changed is because of pressure put by India by various measures.

Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi said last month that India was attempting to use the FATF for political purposes. “A forum like FATF should not be used for political interests,” he said. the same month,  FATF announced retaining Pakistan on the list of countries under “increased monitoring”, for,  what it said, the country’s failure to prosecute top leadership of the UN-designated terror groups.
