AI supercomputer backs Spain to beat Argentina in FIFA World Cup 2026 final

The FIFA World Cup 2026 reaches its climax on Sunday night as defending champions Argentina take on Spain in the final, with an AI-powered supercomputer predicting Spain to emerge as the new world champions, 24NewsHD TV reported on Sunday. 

The title-decider will be played in New York and is scheduled to kick off at 12:00 am Pakistan Standard Time.

Spain are appearing in only their second FIFA World Cup final, while Argentina are playing in the final for the seventh time, aiming to retain the trophy they won in 2022.

Ahead of the blockbuster clash, sports analytics firm Opta's AI Supercomputer has tipped Spain as the favourites after running 25,000 digital simulations of the match.

According to the prediction, Spain have a 59.6% chance of winning the World Cup, while Argentina's chances stand at 40.4%.

The simulation also suggests Spain have a 45% probability of winning the match within the regulation 90 minutes, while there is a 29% chance that the final will go into extra time.

Argentina, meanwhile, have been given a 26% chance of securing victory in normal time.

While the AI forecast favours Spain, the final outcome will ultimately be decided on the pitch as two of world football's biggest nations battle for the FIFA World Cup crown.
