Boxer Amir Khan hints at joining politics
British-Pakistani boxer Amir Khan called on Senate Chairman Syed Yousaf Raza Gillani and discussed the promotion of sports and welfare of youth, reported 24NewsHD TV Channel.
During the meeting, Amir Khan expressed his intention to join politics. The Senate chairman welcomed his intention and added that that the participation of young people in politics was a positive step which will help towards the country's development.
Gillani praised Amir Khan for bringing international recognition to Pakistan through his achievements, saying sports promote discipline, teamwork, tolerance, and positive thinking among young people.
Amir Khan also discussed his plan to establish a boxing academy and sports complex in Karachi. Boxer said he was working with the PPP to promote sports.
