FIFA unveils historic championship rings for 2026 World Cup winners

FIFA has announced that the winners of the 2026 FIFA World Cup will receive specially designed championship rings alongside the traditional World Cup trophy and gold medals, marking the first time such an honour has been introduced in the tournament's history.

According to FIFA, the championship rings will follow a long-established tradition in major American sports and will be awarded exclusively to the winning team's players and officials. 

The move represents a significant addition to the prizes presented to World Cup champions.

A total of 2,026 commemorative rings will be produced to celebrate the 2026 tournament. Of these, 30 rings will be reserved for members of the victorious squad and team officials.

The remaining 1,996 rings will be made available to football supporters around the world as officially licensed merchandise, allowing fans to own a commemorative item linked to the historic tournament.

The introduction of the championship rings marks a new chapter in FIFA's celebration of World Cup success, adding a unique symbol of achievement to football's most prestigious competition.
