Karachi bank ATM destroyed in blast
A powerful explosion destroyed an automated teller machine (ATM) at a private bank on Chand Bibi Road in Karachi's Risala area, leaving the machine split into two pieces but causing no casualties, the 24NewsHD TV channel reported on Sunday.
According to police, the blast shattered the glass surrounding the ATM, although no one was inside the facility when the incident occurred.
Karachi Police said the absence of customers or bank staff at the time of the explosion prevented any loss of life or injuries.
Police officers and bank officials arrived at the scene shortly after receiving reports of the incident.
Investigators secured the area and collected evidence as part of the initial inquiry.
According to preliminary findings, a technical fault is believed to have developed inside the ATM, triggering a fire that was followed by the explosion.
However, police said the exact cause has yet to be determined.
Authorities added that the incident is being investigated from multiple angles, and further inquiries are under way to establish the precise circumstances surrounding the explosion.
