UAE announces Eid Al Adha holidays 2023

The UAE has announced the official Eid Al Adha holidays and Arafat Day for federal ministries and entities, reported the NewsHD TV channel. 

According to the government's Department of Human Resources, the holiday will begin on June 27 to 30, (Dhul Hijjah 9 to 12).

The residents will get four days off to mark the Islamic festival. The break is likely to extend to a six-day weekend.

Public sector workers will enjoy a six-day break to mark Eid Al Adha.

In a circular to all ministries and federal entities, the Federal Authority for Government Human Resources said the holiday would run from Tuesday, June 27 until Friday, June 30.

Work will resume on Monday, July 3.

In its list of public and private sector holiday dates for 2023, the UAE Cabinet allocated four days for Arafat Day and Eid Al Adha.

The religious festival falls on the 10th day of Dhul Hijjah, the 12th and final month of the Islamic calendar.

Likewise, the Dubai Government has announced the Eid Al Adha holiday and Arafat Day for the public sector.

The corresponding Gregorian calendar dates started on June 18, when officials announced the sight of the crescent moon that signals the start of an Islamic month. Astronomical calculations suggest that the first day of the break — Arafat Day — is on June 27.

Eid will fall on the next day, June 28. The break, therefore, is likely to be from Tuesday, June 27, to Friday, June 30. If you factor in the Saturday-Sunday weekend, that’s a six-day break — the longest official holiday of the year.
