Body formed for merger of Levies with police in Balochistan
The Balochistan government on Thursday formed a five-member committee for the merger of Levies with police in three divisions of the province, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
According to a notification issued in this regard, the committee will be headed by the special secretary of the Balochistan home department, and will include the deputy commissioners, the SSPs and wing commanders of the Frontier Constabulary.
The committee will ensure the merger of the Levies with the police department in 13 districts of Makran, Rakhshan, and Zhob division.
The committee will hand over all assets of the Levies to the police in these districts until July 10, 2025, and will brief Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti and Corps Commander on July 15, 2025.
Norwegian envoy meets CM Bugti
Also on Thursday, Acting Ambassador of Norway in Pakistan Thomas Smedshaug Dahl called on Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti in Quetta.
During the meeting, both exchanged views on matters of mutual interest, including the welfare of people.
CM Bugti apprised the Norwegian envoy about different welfare projects in the province.
He said that bringing peace back to Balochistan is our topmost priority. The chief minister said that effective measures were being taken to end extremism and lawlessness in the province.
