Trump approves preliminary plan for strike on Iran: WSJ

US President Donald Trump approved preliminary plans for a possible military strike on Iran but delayed the final order in hopes that Tehran would abandon its nuclear program, reported 24NewsHD TV Channel on Thursday.

According to the Wall Street Journal's exclusive report, Trump held a high-level meeting with senior advisors where the potential military response to Iran’s nuclear advancement was discussed in detail. During this meeting, he reportedly authorised the initial planning for the operation.

However, the final go-ahead was withheld, as Trump opted to give diplomacy a chance, hoping that Iran might reconsider its uranium enrichment efforts.

The report further revealed that key Iranian nuclear sites, especially the heavily fortified Fordow enrichment facility, were among the potential targets under review.

Analysts believe that Iran’s robust air defence systems pose significant challenges for any offensive operation, making it a high-risk military endeavour.
