SHC reinstates disabled teacher on his job

The Sindh High Court has ordered the reinstatement of a disabled teacher with full payment of salaries and other dues while disposing of a petition against cancellation of recruitment in Jamshoro, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

The petitioner’s lawyer informed the court that petitioner Shahnawaz Khoso was recruited as a junior elementary school teacher on the disabled quota but the Education Department cancelled the applicant's recruitment based on the court order. 

The Sindh High Court had suspended the recruitment of candidates who scored less than 40 percent marks in the teacher recruitment test, petitioner's lawyer said.

The applicant was recruited on the disabled quota and not on the basis of hard area, petitioner's lawyer said.

The public counsel said that the Sindh government had imposed a condition of at least 55 marks in the Recruitment Policy 2021, which was later amended to 33 marks. 

A policy of at least forty percent in the examination for recruitment was made on the court order. 

The court remarked that the world can be very harsh and cruel for the disabled. Disabled people face social discrimination, the court further remarked.

The court observed that the Social Welfare Department has also issued a disability certificate to the applicant while the Education Department misinterpreted the court order. 

The court order was for candidates who scored low marks in the name of hard area but the concerned department did not show any sympathy to the disabled applicant.

The court on Wednesday directed to send a copy of the court order to the Secretary School Education as well.
