Six more punished for ‘illegal activities’ in Sukkur
Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Police Sukkur terminated two years services of a Station House Officer (SHO) of Ranipur and five other policemen and transferred them from Khairpur to Sukkur with immediate effect for their involvement in illegal activities, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Wednesday.
According to the details, Police Constable Ejaz Ali, Siraj Ahmad, Safdar Ali were found involved in taking extortion money from big vehicles on Mehran Highway.
Earlier on March 15, 2025, SSP (SSP) suspended SHO Abdul Majeed Sudhaio and an ASI Khair Mohammad Marri for demanding extortion money from vendors in Deherki while DIG Sukkur transferred and imposed ban on posting of 22 officials involved in illegal activities.
Suspended ASI Khair Mohammad Marri said that the SHO had ordered him: “As you are a local resident so you should collect money from shopkeepers as we have to submit this amount to our higher officials.”
He went on to saying that he used to collect Rs200 from each vendor and handed the amount over to the SHO.
The ASI said that the SHO set free an accused who was nominated in first information report (FIR) after taking bribe from him. Suspended ASI Khair Mohamad Marri accused higher officials in presence of SHO. After the incident, SHO left the scene on a police mobile van.
SSP after taking notice of the incident immediately issued orders for suspension of both SHO and ASI.
DIG takes action against officials involved in illegal activities
In another incident, Deputy Inspector-General (DIG) Sukkur Faisal Abdullah Chachar demoted
SHO Abdul Jabbar Memon and imposed ban on his posting in District Khairpur for three years.
While SHO Tando Masti Hashim Hakro’s annual increment was halted for two years and also put a ban on his posting in District Khairpur.
ASI Manzoor Narejo and ASI Ghulam Rasool Jhamat were also demoted from the rank of ASI to Head Constable and both police officials were transferred to Ghotki while their posting in Khairpur for halted for two years.
SHO Zulfiqar Shahani was transferred to Sukkur while a ban was imposed on his posting for one year.
The DIG warned all policemen to perform their duties as per law otherwise they will have to face strict action.
