A petition was filed in the Lahore High Court (LHC) on Thursday, seeking the removal of Punjab Chief Minister Hamza Shehbaz, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
The petition, filed by Mushtaq Ahmed Mohal Advocate, in which CM Hamza, the provincial chief secretary, speaker Punjab Assembly and others were named as respondents, read that Hamza had lost the majority in the provincial assembly following the interpretation of Article 63-A of the constitution by the Supreme Court a day before yesterday (Tuesday, May 17) and hence he had no legal and moral right to remain in office anymore. “Therefore, it is prayed to the court to bar him from working as the provincial chief minister by declaring the notification of his election null and void,” the petitioner prayed.
The apex court, in its verdict, had said that the votes cast by 25 PTI dissidents in the election of Punjab chief minister would not be counted.
