LHC orders to immediate release of detained PTI workers
Court orders DCs to pay a fine of Rs5,000 per day until further detention of house arrests persons
The Lahore High Court (LHC) declared the notification of detentions without reasons null and void and ordered the immediate release of all the detained workers of the PTI.
The court also ordered the deputy commissioners of all districts of Punjab to be fined Rs 5,000 per day until the release of these detainees. And, the amount of the fine received from the deputy commissioners will be paid to the detainees.
According to the 24News HD TV channel, a hearing of the case related to the detainees in Lahore, Wazirabad, Sialkot and other districts of Punjab along with the petition of Abu Bakr Siddique Bhutta on Friday.
LHC Justice Muhammad Amjad Rafiq heard the case and expressed dissatisfaction with the reply submitted by the concerned Deputy Commissioners regarding the detentions.
The judge expressed dissatisfaction with the Punjab government's response and said how a citizen can be detained without any material.
He accepted the requests of the petitioners and ordered their immediate release.
Justice Amjad Rafiq ordered that the DCs will pay Rs5,000 on a daily basis till the detained person is released and this fine should be paid to the detained person.
Justice Muhammad Amjad Rafiq wrote in his order that the government should take short-term and long-term measures for the lack of peace and order, and bring those whom the government considers evil-doers into the national stream and not start a war against its own citizens.
