IHC fixes hearing on sentence suspension pleas in controversial tweets case

The Islamabad High Court has fixed for hearing the miscellaneous petitions seeking suspension of sentences of Iman Mazari and Hadi Ali Chatha in a case related to controversial tweets.

The Registrar Office issued a cause list scheduling the petitions for hearing tomorrow.

Justice Muhammad Azam Khan also took up the miscellaneous petitions earlier in the day.

The Supreme Court of Pakistan had directed the Islamabad High Court to decide the sentence suspension petitions within two weeks and ordered that a certified copy of its order be placed on record through a miscellaneous petition.

Lawyers for Iman Mazari and Hadi Ali Chatha subsequently submitted a copy of the Supreme Court’s decision through a miscellaneous petition, after which the case was fixed for rehearing tomorrow.
