KP launches free airport ambulance service to transfer mortal remains across province

The Rescue 1122 Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has launched a free ambulance service to transfer mortal remains arriving from abroad at Bacha Khan International Airport to any district of the province.

The service was inaugurated by Provincial Minister for Relief Aqibullah Khan, who said the initiative aims to support grieving families and reduce their financial burden during difficult times.

He said overseas Pakistanis were a valuable asset and it was the government’s responsibility to stand by their families. Providing facilities to bereaved families, he added, was a service to humanity and part of broader public welfare efforts.

Under the initiative, six dedicated ambulances will remain available around the clock to ensure the respectful and dignified transfer of bodies from the airport to destinations across the province.

A special Rescue 1122 help desk and counter have been established at the airport to facilitate families. Citizens can contact the 1122 helpline, the Rescue help desk or the provincial monitoring cell to avail the service, the minister said.

He described the measure as a practical step to strengthen trust, security and welfare services for Pakistanis living abroad and their families at home.
