PM warns of second wave of coronavirus in big cities

Prime Minister Imran Khan said on Monday that big cities like Karachi, Lahore, Faisalabad and Gujranwala were at the high risk of receiving the second wave of the coronavirus pandemic. 

Speaking at the Clean Green Index Awards in Islamabad, the prime minister said that deputy commissioners of tacky districts would be punished and deputy commissioners of clean districts would be rewarded with bonuses worth millions of rupees. He said that viruses spread more rapidly in unhygienic conditions. That’s the reason, he said, cities are at a high risk of the second wave of coronavirus wave. He said the situation was being monitored. He said that Pakistan was a beautiful country, but the past governments did not focus on its beauty. He said that 70 per cent of the country’s green areas disappeared in the last 20 years. He said he was a witness to destruction of forests in Pakistan. 

The prime minister said that deputy commissioners taking good care of their districts would be given promotion and pay raises, while deputy promotion of tacky areas should be punished.
