PM Shehbaz orders framing strategies for accessing climate finance
Stresses improvement in risk mapping, capacity building: Shehbaz also reviews progress on CPEC projects

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has directed constitution of an experts committee on climate change to help the government in preparing strategies on issues related to climate change, such as climate finance, adaptation, and loss and damage assessment, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
Chairing the first meeting of Pakistan Climate Change Council in Islamabad on Wednesday, Shehbaz Sharif emphasized on including risk mitigation and adaptation in disaster management strategies to reduce damages in the future.
The Prime Minister said there is need to improve risk mapping, capacity building to access climate finance as well as loss and damage assessment ability.
He also stressed on the need of better coordination among the federating units on environment issues.
The Prime Minister commended the initiative of Ministry of Climate Change with regard to constitution of Climate Change Council and pleading the case of Pakistan with regard to climate change, globally.
PM Shehbaz reviews progress on CPEC
Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif chaired a meeting in Islamabad on Wednesday to review progress on China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and other Chinese projects.
During the meeting, a detailed briefing was given on infrastructure projects, especially Main Line One (ML-1), Karachi Circular Railway, Karakoram Highway and other projects.
The meeting also discussed 10,000 MW solar power project and hydropower projects.
The participants held a detailed discussion on increasing speed of work on the CPEC projects and speeding up work on projects that have been halted for the past four years.
Former Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, Federal Ministers Ahsan Iqbal, Khawaja Saad Rafiq, Salik Hussain, Syed Naveed Qamar, Maryam Aurangzeb, Syed Murtaza Mahmood, Tariq Bashir Cheema, Adviser to Prime Minister Ahad Cheema, Minister of State for Petroleum Dr. Musadik Malik, Special Assistants Tariq Fatemi, Zafaruddin Mehmood, Jahanzeb Khan, Syed Fahad Hussain, Prime Minister's Coordinators Rana Ahsan Afzal, Badr Shehbaz and senior officials attended the meeting.
Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah also participated in the meeting through video link.
