34 students catch coronavirus in Punjab in three days

As many as 34 students have tested positive for coronavirus in three days in Punjab, health authorities have confirmed. 

The Punjab Primary and Secondary Healthcare Department confirmed on Friday that 34 students were diagnosed with coronavirus in three days, since reopening of schools in the province on September 15. 

The Primary and Secondary Healthcare Department spokesperson said that 24 students tested positive for COVID-19 in Gujranwala, seven in Nankana Sahib and one in Bhakkar. He maintained that two staffers were also diagnosed with the virus in Lodhran and Bhakkar. 

The spokesperson said the government closed two schools in Nankana Sahib after several COVID-19 cases were reported there. He said that authorities disinfected all educational institutions where virus cases were reported. A school will be shut for five days if two or more students are tested positive for COVID-19, the spokesperson said.
