Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan on Saturday made phone calls to President Arif Alvi and Prime Minister Imran Khan and exchanged Eid greetings with them.

Prime Minister Khan and President Alvi congratulated the Turkish president over conversion of historic Hagia Sofia into a mosque and resumption of prayers there. President Alvi informed his Turkish counterpart of the Indian brutalities in occupied Kashmir and the inhuman conditions Kashmiris were living in. Prime Minister Khan praised the Turkish president for his support to the Pakistani narrative on Indian occupied Kashmir and his cooperation with Pakistan on the decades-old dispute. The Pakistani leadership also praised the Turkish president for extending support to many countries of the world, including Pakistan, in the war against the coronavirus pandemic.

On this occasion, the Turkish president invited his Pakistani counterpart to visit Turkey once the pandemic is over. Briefing the Turkish president about Pakistan’s measures to control the spread of coronavirus, the prime minister said that Pakistan was trying to save lives as well as the economy and everyday life. The leadership of the two countries also discussed possibilities of collaboration on preparation of Covid-19 vaccine. The two sides discussed ways to enhance bilateral cooperation between the two countries and stay in touch on strategic matters involving Pakistan and Turkey.
