Bureaucracy to blame for concealing graft cases, PTI PAC members tell PM

Putting the blame of saving the ‘corrupt’ elements on the shoulders of bureaucracy, members of the Public Accounts Committee (PAC), who met with Prime Minister Imran Khan on Thursday, said the was not serious in dealing with the menace, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

Sources told 24News that they told the prime minister that no matter how many cases of corruption they reported, bureaucrats brushed them under the carpet since they had with them files of all these cases.   

PAC members further said that even the NAB officials did not take any take any big action when they forwarded to them corruption cases.

MNA Riaz Fatyana and MNA Noor Alam, on the occasion, briefed PM Imran about the working of the committee.

The prime minister expressed his satisfaction over the performance of Fatyana.

Speaking to members of the PAC, the prime minister said that they all were senior politicians, and he expected them to report cases of corruption. “Not only you should expose the malpractices of the previous eras, but also those being committed under the present government, if any,” he said, adding that no leniency should be shown towards the corrupt elements as well as those who supported them. “And if somebody tries to hush up graft cases, please bring it to my notice,” PM Imran directed.

He, on the occasion, expressed the resolve that the government, under no circumstances, would back down from its commitment to eliminate corruption from the country.
