Monsoon showers soak many areas; Karachi may face urban flooding

Country will be lashed with a heavy downpour during the first spell of monsoon today (Saturday) as rain will hit different areas including Islamabad and the torrential showers in Karachi might inundate the city with urban flooding, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

According to the Metrological Office report, the first spell of monsoon will soak Islamabad and many cities in Punjab including Rawalpindi, Lahore, Narowal, Sialkot, Mandi Baahauddin, Faisalabad, Sargodha, Layyah, Bhakkar, Mianwali, Bahawalnagar, Multan, Dera Ghazi Khan. 

In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, rain and strong winds are likely to lash Peshawar, Mansehra, Dir, Swat, Buner, Malakand, Mardan, Swabi, Abbottabad, Haripur, Bannu, Kohat, and Kurram.

Many cities in Sindh including Karachi, Tattha, Badin, Tharparkar, Umarkot, Dadu, Sanghar, Mirpur Khas, Hyderabad, Shehdadkot, Sukkur, Larkana, Jaccobad, Shaheed Benazirabad will be pounded by downpour. 

Karachi is likely to be submerged in urban flooding as the city will be lashed by heavy sleet. The wet spell which starts today in Karachi will continue intermittently till Tuesday. 

Intermittent light rain will pound coastal belt of Thatta and Keti Bandar. However, the local administration has banned fishing in sea. The fishermen have docked their fishing boats along the coast. 

The Pakistan Disaster Management Authority has directed all departments to stay alert.

According to weather reports many areas in Balochistan including Khuzdar, Ziarat, Naseerabad, Barakhan, Qalat, Lasbela, Turbat, Sibi, Awaran and the coastal areas will also receive monsoon showers.
