A special delegation of UN Secretary-General is arriving in Pakistan today (Monday) to assess the situation of the Indian Occupied Kashmir (IOK), government sources said.

The delegation would hold meetings with Prime Minister Imran Khan and Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi to discuss the situation in Kashmir and the Line of Control (LoC), the de facto border that separates Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) from the Indian held part of the Kashmir state.

UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres during his recent visit to Pakistan had expressed his concern on the reported human rights violations in the Occupied Kashmir and urged Pakistan and India to resolve the Kashmir dispute through dialogue.

Addressing a conference on the Climate Change in Islamabad on February 16, the secretary-general advised both the nuclear neighbours to engage in meaningful talks for the peaceful resolution of Kashmir issue.

To a question on the humanitarian crisis in the occupied valley, where around eight million people are being brutalized by the Indian security forces, Guterres said human rights issue should not be violated anywhere in the world.

The UN chief also lauded the steps taken Pakistan for reducing the impact of Climate Change in the country.
