Shaukat Tarin beats PM Imran Khan in sharing FBR feats

Prime Minister Imran Khan has appreciated the efforts of the Federal Board of Revenue for achieving last month’s revenue target while posting a robust growth of 28.5% that has enabled the government to subsidize petrol, diesel and electricity and give relief to the people, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

It is quite amusing to note that though it has been a tradition in the past several months that Prime Minister Khan always takes to his twitter handle to reveal the FBR’s revenue targets achievements with the nation. But this time round, Finance Minister Shaukat Tarin beat the premier in sharing the news on his twitter account at 7:07am Wednesday morning while the premier lagged behind and shared the news at 10.45am.

In his tweet, Prime Minister Khan said: “FBR has successfully knocked down Feb revenue target of Rs. 441 billion, posting robust growth of 28.5 percent, and up to the month growth of over 30 percent. Because of this performance of FBR we are able to subsidise petrol, diesel and electricity and give relief to our people.”

Finance Minister Shaukat Tarin also congratulated the Federal Board of Revenue for successfully achieving the revenue target of Rs441 billion hoping that at this run-rate the board would achieve its annual target.

The minister posted a tweet on Wednesday writing: “Congratulations! FBR has successfully knocked down February revenue target of Rs. 441 billion, posting robust growth of 28.5 percent, and up to the month growth of over 30 percent. At this run-rate we will achieve our annual revenue targets. Insha’Allah.

Separately, State Minister for Information Farrukh Habib tweeted on Wednesday that Prime Minister would inaugurate interest-free loan programme under the Kamyab Pakistan Programme during a ceremony going to be held in Islamabad today. The low-income group of people will be offered Rs500,000 interest-free loans for starting a business and Rs2.7 million loan for constructing homes through Akhuwat and other micro finance institutions.

The state minister further wrote that the Kamyab Pakistan Programme is a part of Prime Minister Imran Khan’s vision for poverty alleviation according to which loans up to Rs407 billion would be provided to young people, women, and farmers for home construction and starting business in a period of two years. During this period, the government would provide Rs56 billion subsidy.
