The Sindh government has extended the lockdown across the province till the end of Ramazan to counter the further spread of the deadly coronavirus.

Chief Minister House said already announced lockdown had been extended till the end of the holy month of Ramazan.

As per the Sindh CM House, during lockdown, grocery shops and bakeries are allowed to remain open from 8am to 5pm, while milk shops can stay open from 8am to 8pm.

It is pertinent to note that Sindh Information Minister Syed Nasir Shah on Thursday said, “The health and lives of the people are the first and foremost priority of the Sindh government, therefore, it is not ending the ongoing lockdown.”

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf leaders have slammed the lockdown extension and several ministers including Information Minster have critisied the PPP chairman Bilawal Bhutto statement against Prime Minster Imran Khan on not forming any joint strategy to combat the coronavirus.

Sindh is closing the gap at an alarming rate with 6,675 infected people while 118 deaths are reported in the province due to the COVID-19
